Nirav Bakshi is a young and dynamic lawyer with experience in disruptive technologies at Nishith Desai Associates (India) and Mitry Lawyers (Australia). He has dealt with a plethora of legal issues surrounding blockchain applications and cryptocurrencies. His contributions in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space include consultation papers, structuring of transactions and legal implications under present Indian laws. Nirav also has experience in international commercial dispute resolution matters with a focus on arbitration and mediation. He has also worked extensively on IPOs, Revenue Sharing Agreements, Company Affairs and Acquisitions at Stephenson Harwood LLP (U.K.). He is currently a part of the eSports Working Group which has been set up by Mr Shaun Star and Dr Nicolas de Zamaroczy. The primary research focus of the group is governance, regulation and the overarching eSports policy in India. He is also a Research Fellow with the Center for India-Australia Studies. Nirav’s articles and papers have been published in online and peer-reviewed journals in India and abroad. His works include discussions on the legal landscape with respect to Esports in India, discussion of authors rights in the dissemination of information, comparative study of the principles of good faith & faith dealing between the Indian Contract Act and Principles of International Commercial Contracts. Furthermore, he has given talks on “The Applicability of Blockchain in Vehicular Telematics” and “The Regulatory Challenges: Cryptocurrency and Blockchain in India” at Blockchain India which discussed the nuanced aspects of the technology and legal issues which can arise. Nirav holds a B.Sc Banking & Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law (U.K.) and an LL.B from O.P. Jindal Global University. He is also an accredited International Civil-Commercial Mediator from ADR-ODR International Ltd.
